Yes, the internet is definitely a double-edged sword. Is it a net plus? I think humans have to get used to its strengths and weaknesses and learn ways to judge its truthiness. All new technologies take time to be successfully assimilated.

Globalization and multilateral trade was supposed to pull the world together as a new world order. But we misunderstood how finite wealth can be, and the globalization we undertook instead of creating wealth it transferred it down the wealth gradient and set off a reversal and deglobalization that we are now experiencing.
The lesson is you can have all the feel good talk and communication but it’s the wealth management in resources, land, and economic value, that will grab the controls every time..
